Luke 5: 31-32
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy that need a doctor but the sick. I have mot come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentence.”**
Jesus came to this earth to make us knew. He came to save us from hell and our sin.
The thing is we are all sinners, whether we like it or not. But Jesus came to help us run from our sin because we CAN NOT do it on our own. We will stumble and fall if we try it on our own. Thats why he talks to what the pharisees think are sinners. Because they are sinful just like the pharisees and he wants to give them a chance to live a better life here on earth and eternally.
Jesus is here to help us ALL grow in our faith. Some will choose to push God away but, the ones who are truly faithful still need Jesus. Its not a one and done deal, its about eternal commitment. You have to believe that he is King with tour WHOLE heart and not listen to the temptations that tell you otherwise. You have to repent your sins and be forgiven in God ,so that you may be a servant to the Lord Almighty forever.
**So Levi (former tax collector) threw Jesus a party and invited many tax collectors. At this time, tax collectors were hated by the people because they basically stole from them. Jesus ate and drank with these people, as one does. The Pharisees (“teachers of the law”) complained to Jesus’s disciples that Jesus was spending time with “tax collectors and sinners.” And that was Jesus’s response.
